lyrics

she grew up in a mill town where the rich now live in lofts
two stories or more from the floor where her grandfather died on the job
moved away at 18, came back when she was 23
after her mother's funeral, and the only things that she could see

were the dead mills lit up for new owners
and her mother who couldnt get an organ donor
and the hospital bed where they didnt want to keep her
and the floor where everybody dies

shes gonna burn it down tonight

she says "this whole town is a miracle!
how do all of you not go insane?"
everyone says shes crazy but they swear theyll pray
shes not especially spiritual
but she goes to church anyway
she says maybe god will show up someday
because there's hell to pay

for thedead mills lit up for new owners
and her mother who couldnt get an organ donor
and the hospital bed where they didnt want to keep her
and the floor where everybody dies

shes gonna burn it down tonight
with her love and fire and light
shes gonna burn it down tonight
singing "our guts are the same on the inside!
burn it down tonight!
the only way to make it out alive!
they don't care if we survive!
because it's all about the bottom line!"
